Whitchester is a unique combination of 3-Star Guest House and Christian Retreat Centre. This former Dower House of the Buccleuch Estate was re-furbished in 2003 to provide a balance between modern convenience and a 19th century country house.

Although we are not affiliated to any denomination, we have long-standing links with the local churches in Hawick and the surrounding areas. As a Guest House our doors are open to all - those of any faith or none.

News Update

For a long time there has been a hope that we would be able to build additional ground floor accommodation to enable those with disabilities to have a carer in the same room with them.

This is now in the process of becoming a reality. Work has begun on an annexe which, when completed, will mean that we have two ground floor twin rooms in addition to our existing ground floor single room. The single room itself will be altered to become fully en-suite, at present having wash basin and shower within the room with a toilet suitable for those with disabilities right next to it.

All going well, we hope that by spring 2008 these rooms will be ready to accommodate guests.
